BCG online assessment checklist

BCG's first screen depends on your office: the Casey chatbot case, the SHL Consulting Career Assessment (CCA), a cognitive test, or a short numerical test. This checklist starts by working out which one you have, then covers each in order. Office rules come from BCG's own careers pages; format details from prep sites are labelled.

When the invite arrives

  • Work out which test it is. BCG's 2026 pages show the screen varies: US Associate applicants take the CCA, and some then get the online case; Mexico uses the online case plus the CCA; Australia and New Zealand use the online case, then a numerical test for some; the UK uses a short numerical test; Germany, Austria and Switzerland use a 30-minute cognitive test. The BCG hub has the full list.
  • Note the deadline. BCG's US pages give 48 hours to complete the CCA. If a Casey (HireQuotient) link expires, BCG says to contact your recruiter for a new one.
  • Read the guide for your test: Casey, the CCA or the cognitive test.

A week before

  • Casey: work through business math on paper (growth, margins, break-even, market sizing) and practise one-minute spoken recommendations that start with the answer. Casey math and the recommendation have examples.
  • CCA and the numerical or cognitive tests: do timed numerical and logical sets. We haven't built BCG practice yet; the closest timed reps on SolveForge are our Bain numerical and logical sections, which cover the same skills.

The day before

  • Casey: have your own calculator ready. Prep sites agree you may use one and that none is given on screen.
  • Casey: check your webcam, microphone and lighting. Prep sites agree it ends with a recorded recommendation of about a minute, in one take.
  • Cognitive test (Germany, Austria, Switzerland): BCG says no tools, so practise without a calculator.
  • Book a quiet slot of about 30 to 35 minutes with no interruptions; BCG gives about 30 minutes (Mexico) to 35 (US) for the online case.

On the day

  • Casey: answers are final. Prep sites agree you can't go back or pause, so commit and move on.
  • Read every instruction on rounding and units before you type a number.
  • If something goes wrong with the link, contact your recruiter.

After the test

  • BCG doesn't publish scores or pass marks, and prep sites report the Casey score isn't shown to candidates.
  • BCG says it can't give individual feedback at the application stage. If you reach interviews, you can ask your recruiting contact.
  • BCG says AI is never used to make hiring decisions.

FAQ

Which online test does BCG use?

It depends on the office. BCG's 2026 pages show the SHL CCA for US Associates (with the Casey online case for some), the online case plus the CCA in Mexico, the online case in Australia and New Zealand, a short numerical test in the UK, and a 30-minute cognitive test in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Can I use a calculator in BCG's Casey case?

Prep sites agree you can use your own calculator and that none is provided on screen. BCG's cognitive test in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is different: BCG says no tools.

What if my BCG assessment link expires?

BCG says to contact your recruiter, who will send a new link with its own deadline.

Is this checklist from BCG?

No. SolveForge wrote it from BCG's public careers pages and FAQ, plus prep-site reports where it says so. Your invitation comes first.

SolveForge is an independent practice tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Boston Consulting Group, SHL or HireQuotient. This checklist is built from the firms' public pages and candidate reports; your invitation email and the test's own instructions are the final word.
