About this practice
Bain screens many applicants with a short online aptitude test before interviews. Its careers page says the test runs on one of two platforms, SOVA or TestGorilla, that the email you get after applying tells you which, and that it takes about 30 to 40 minutes with a calculator allowed. This page lets you practise the kinds of questions both versions are reported to contain.
What's here
- Numerical: business tables and charts. Every set is generated, so a Bain pass gives you new numbers each run.
- Logical: series, shape patterns, odd one out and deductive statements, from a bank of 40.
- Verbal: 10 passages and 40 true, false or cannot say statements, in the SOVA style.
- Situational judgement: 25 workplace scenarios, scored with full credit for the strongest answer and half credit for a reasonable second choice.
- Two full mocks: a TestGorilla-style run with a timer on each test and no going back, and a SOVA-style run with no countdown that records your time per question.
What it isn't
These are our questions, written from scratch in the formats that Bain's pages and candidate reports describe. None is a real test item, and a practice score doesn't predict what Bain will see; Bain doesn't publish a pass mark. The exact mix of tests varies by office and role, and some details (question counts, the SOVA situational judgement format) are disputed between sources. Free and Pro
A free account gets one fixed set in each section, with full explanations, and your scores count on the Bain leaderboard. Replays give you the same questions, which is fine for learning the format but will overstate your score. A Bain pass ($29 one-time for 30 days, or $69 for lifetime access; nothing renews) adds fresh numerical sets, the full banks drawn in new combinations, and both full mocks.
